Allot IIT, IIM to Rajouri Or We Go: Minister

Says, Jammu City and Samba Do Not Represent Enrtire Division

SRINAGAR: Senior PDP leader and CAPD Minister Choudary Zulfikar Ali Wednesday warned of fragmentation of Jammu province if IIT and IIM like institutions were not established in Rajoori district of the division.

While leaving for New Delhi to hold a detailed meet with the MHRD minister Smriti Irani, Choudary said that he will apprise the minister about the ground situation and importance of setting up of IIT and IIM in Rajori region of the Jammu Province. As per the reports, the meet between Choudary and Irani is scheduled to be held on Friday.

The CAPD minister said that whenever the prestigious institutions are sanctioned for the Jammu Province of the state, they are established either in the Jammu city or in Samba district. The reality is that Jammu province is more than just the city or the areas of Samba. You cannot ignore the other strategic regions of the Province. All we want is that justice must be done with the areas of Rajouri. We want that the government of India must establish IIT and IIM in Rajouri.

If such a demand is not approved, we fear that the province of Jammu may get fragmented, he warned.

The minister has already stated that Rajouri had been the centre of attraction in the past during the rule of Mughals, Sikhs and Dogras but after the partition, the area could not get justice due to one or the other reasons.

He said the people of the area had been neglected in all respects but the present government was working for the overall development of the area.
