Srinagar: Unidentified persons Monday evening harassed senior journalist Majid Hyderi by trying to force their entry into his house in Pir Bagh locality here.
The incident happened at around 8:30 PM Monday when Majid had just returned from nearby Masjid after offering evening prayers. As I returned from the Masjid and had barely taken a rest, there was repeated knocking on our main door. When my mother inquired there was no reply and instead the banging grew. The banging grew louder and faster as if someone wanted to break open the door, Majid said.
I didnt find it correct to open the door and confront but managed to see from beneath the door shadow of someone roaming on the veranda and banging the door, Majid said adding by now he signaled his family members to climb upstairs for safety. This continued for some five-six minutes and every time someone wanted to break open the door.
Amid a subsequent frightening calm, the scribe climbed upstairs and raised an alarm from window. A neighbor rushed in But we couldnt find anyone outside, the scribe said.
While Majid has filed a complaint with Police Post Humhama, police said the matter would be looked into.
