Srinagar- A day after a fake doctor was arrested by police for attending patients at the Lal Ded hospital for three consecutive days, the health and medical education (H&ME) department on Thursday ordered a probe into the serious administrative lapse.
The order to probe the incident that has left the LD administration in an embarrassing situation, came a day after Kashmir Observer broke the news about the arrest of the fake doctor.
According to an order, a copy of which lies with the Kashmir Observer, Administrator associated hospitals GMC Srinagar, Hashmat Ali Yatoo has been appointed as inquiry officer and has been directed to submit the report within 3 days.
“Sanction is hereby, accorded to the appointment of Hashmat All Yatoo (IAS), Administrator, Associated Hospitals, Government Medical College, Srinagar as Inquiry Officer to enquire into the matter regarding unauthorized entry and intrusion into the Labour Room of Lal Ded Hospital, Srinagar by a fake doctor.” reads the order.
On Wednesday, the fake doctor, who attended patients inside labour room of Valley’s lone maternity hospital for three straight days, was arrested by police. The arrest of imposter raised eyebrows over hospital’s security protocols and the safety of its patients.
Sources told Kashmir Observer that the security has been tightened in the hospital and the entire admin is on alert.
Earlier, Medical Superintendent Lal Ded Maternity Hospital Dr Muzaffer Sherwani told Kashmir Observer that they are investigating the matter and have sought explanation from the security incharge.
The police identified him as a resident of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
“One Mohd Kifayat Rather S/o Ab Rashid Rather R/o Saloora Ganderbal arrested for impersonating as Fake doctor in LD hospital. FIR no 42/2023 under relevant sections registered in Rajbagh PS,” Srinagar police said in a tweet.
