2009 Kulgam Murder Case
Kulgam: After convicting ten out of twenty accused, the district and sessions court Kulgam Tuesday reserved the verdict of a 2009 murder case after the end of arguments from both defence and prosecution sides.
The judgment (quantum of sentence) will be delivered on June 30 (Tuesday).
The 22 year old youth Nawaz Gul Bhat, a resident of Kelam Kulgam was put to death after being kidnapped by a group of people with whom the deceased had entered into a brawl over property dispute in September 2009.
Police station Kulgam after registering an FIR vide number 246/2009, had arrested 20 people for their alleged involvement in the murder of the said youth.
Public Prosecutor Airaz Mushtaq Ahmed Laway said district and sessions judge Kulgam Subhash Chandar Gupta convicted 10 accused in the murder of Nawaz Gul Bhat. The murder case was lying with the court from 2009 and today on June 29, 2015, ten accused were acquitted and the same number of people were convicted. The quantum of punishment for the convicted ones will be declared on June 30 (Tuesday), Laway said.
The convicted ones who all hail from Kelam village of South Kashmirs Kulgam district are Razak Parrey, Aziz Bhat, Sartaj Bhat, Jaleel Bhat, Manzoor Bhat, Syed Bhat, Dawood Paddar, Showkat Bhat, Bashir bhat and Gani Bhat. (CNS)
