Tral: The health care at Sub District Hospital Tral in South Kashmir continues to be in shambles due to the poor infrastructure and the shortage of staff forcing the patients to move to other hospitals or private clinics of the doctors.
A delegation of respectable citizens from Tral town told CNS that the shortage of medicos has severely hobbled the patient care at the hospital. The hospital lacks surgeon. There is no professional gynecologist and an orthopedics. This all has been forcing people from the town to move to the distant Srinagar for the treatment.
This hospital should have these doctors available round the clock. But nobody in the government seems to be bothered, the delegation said.
Due to non-availability of professional gynecologist, delivery cases are referred to Srinagar hospital. Similarly, dozens of patients with bone and joint problem are returned without treatment from the hospital daily. The doctors and other paramedical staff are usually absent increasing the problems of the patients they said and appealed authorities to provide sufficient staff to the hospital so that people would not suffer.
