Srinagar- The administration of Mewar University in Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan have suspended 26 students, including 17 Kashmiris over last month’s group clash in which several students were injured, two among them critically.
The decision to suspend erring students, besides not allowing them to attend classes or enter varsity premises was taken following a report submitted by the Registrar Mewar University in the aftermath of the clashes between the two groups of the students on August 25, officials said,
It may be in place to mention that violent clashes broke out at Mewar University after two groups of students had heated arguments over some issue while they were queuing up for dinner at a hostel mess on August 25.
Several students were injured, two of them critically following violent clashes between the two sides inside the varsity, while 40 students including 21 from Kashmir were taken into preventive custody who were later released.
“On the basis of the report received and with the approval of the competent authority, it has been reported that some of the students have created nuisance and continuously indulging in deplorable activities. Any such kind of discipline cannot be allowed. It has therefore been decided to put the following students pending enquiry under suspension with immediate effect. This office order is in continuation of previous office orders in the aforesaid context,” reads the office report, copy of which is with the Kashmir Observer.
The students who have been placed under suspension have been identified as Adnan Fayaz, Mohammad Asif Khuja, Izhan Parvaiz, Ozair Imtiyaz, Sajad Ali Dar, Suhail Shafi, Abu Shahid Sheikh, Kamran Ahmad Parray, Yashpal Singh Rathore Faizan Akber, Aatif Bashir, Abrar Farooq, Mohammad Mudasir Bhat, Amaan Parvaiz Khan, Anish Jaiswal, KH Anees Mustafa, Malik Waseem, Adil Aijaz, Prashant Gaurav, Jitesh Kumar, Amresh Kumar, Krishanpal Sharma, Zafar Hussain, Shivam Kumar,Rayendra Tomar and Anurag Jaiswal.
The suspended students, report said, have been asked not to attend the classes or enter varsity premises till further orders while concerned officers including Security Officer and Hostel Wardens have been asked to ensure strict compliance of the directions.
“Above students shall not be allowed to attend the classes and also not allowed to enter in the varsity premises till further orders. Concerned Deans, Heads of Departments and, security Officer and Hostel Wardens will ensure strict compliance,” the report adds.
