Srinagar – The two-day Shah-I-Hamadan National Moot Court Competition concluded here on Sunday at University of Kashmir in which Faculty of Law, KU was declared as winner and Faculty of Law, AMU was declared as the runner ups.
Around 20 teams from various law institutions across the country participated in the two-day competition which was first of its kind in the valley and was organized by Faculty of law University of Kashmir.
In his presidential address, Vice-chancellor, University of Kashmir, Prof Talat Ahmad said that the students should get benefitted from these competitions as such competitive tasks and academic engagements hone their skills and promote cross fertilization of ideas which help in the formation of a vibrant society.
Speaking during a valedictory function, President National Consumer Disputes Redressal commission Justice Ashok Bhan who was chief guest on the occasion said, Judiciary should give quick relief to common man but under present judiciary system in the country justice is getting delayed and expenses are unbearable for a common man.
He added Legal and professional education are bound to be better and there is a need to change and strengthen legal education at grass root level.
While addressing the budding lawyers, he said, Be honest in your work as honest lawyer will become an honest judge.
Congratulating the faculty of law University of Kashmir for its contribution towards legal knowledge in the state President J&K Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission Justice BA Kirmani said, Policies are made establishment -friendly but law people with good legal education and trainings can implement constitutional policies in people friendly manner. He stressed on the students that after completing their studies they should be the factor of change in legal world. Find a man with identical perception and make a group, then the solution to a problem is not a difficult job, he suggested.
Head and dean faculty of law Prof Farooq Ahmad expressed happiness at the successful completion of the competition and said the event is bound to help our budding lawyers to grow up in their field.
During the valedictory function the best male advocate category award was won by Govind jee, from AMU whereas the best female advocate award was won by Sapna Arora, Lloyd Law College, Greater Noida. The best memorial award went to ILS Law college, Pune.
