World Will Prosper If Technology Reaches To Grass Roots: Experts
Srinagar – In order to make the surroundings developed, the experts Sunday said that the world will prosper if technology is directed towards the grass-root levels.
Speaking at a one day workshop on Promoting Innovation in individuals, start-ups and micro, small and medium enterprises (PRISM) and Technopreneurship Promotion Programme (TePP), the experts said that the efforts should be on to make it a success
The workshop was organised by TePP Outreach Centre (TUC), University Science Instrumentation Centre (USIC), University of Kashmir, in collaboration with Mechnical Engineering Departement NIT, at NIT campus, Srinagar.
The Workshop was organized to boost the budding innovators and acquaint them with the financial support for technology innovation and patenting. Director NIT, srinagar, Prof. Rajat Gupta, who presided over the event, said that present age is age of collaboration and it is necessary for young innovators to get associated with some organization to get proper direction for their inventions which will be proficient in tackling the current plights that persist in our society.
“Engineering is not just the degree but it is the device that can be utilized to deduce the solution for the problems that can be minimized by using inovative ideas” Said Prof. Gupta.
Head DSIR,Govt. of India, Shri Indu Bhaskar, who was the Chief Gust at the occasion, said that such workshops are meant to ignite the thought process among the young innovators and to provide a platform for technology incubation for them.
“We have established a TUC at USIC, University of Kashmir for scouting and processing your innovations and DSIR can provide financial support upto Rs. 45.0 lac for any innovator capable of innovating a technology to provide a scientific solution to an existing problem in the society” said Shri Bhasker.
While delivering an Inaugural address, Director USIC and Coordinator TUC, Prof. GM Bhat highlighted that the purpose of this workshop is to sensitize the technocrats about the new ideas and innovations which consquently leads to new technology.
While encouraging the young engineers to think out of box and come up with technical solutions to the problems faced by our society Prof. Bhat said that “On one we contemplate to send a man less mission to Mars and on the hand our farmers are continuing to use age old sickle for harvesting their crops”. Technology has to reach to grass root level he opined.
Head of Mechanical engineering Department NIT, Srinagar, Prof. M.F. Wani said that engineers have an important duty to introduce new technology that will help to create a colossal abate in problems that are frequented across the globe.
“Such Workshops aim at overcoming the global problems which can be handled by new technological means. Onus lies upon us to introduce such courses that will lead to exponential growth of innovators, said Prof. Wani. Three Technical sessions were held in the one-day workshop which was followed by an interactive session and a valedictory function.
