SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon today reviewed the progress of implementation of ban imposed for sale/purchase and plantation of Russian poplar trees through Video Conference with the Deputy Commissioners of the Valley here today.
The Divisional Commissioner directed all the Deputy Commissioners to ensure strict implementation of High Court orders issued regarding chopping down of Russian poplar trees.
The Divisional Commissioner had one to one interaction with every Deputy Commissioner with regard to cutting of the Russian popular trees and ban on its further sale, purchase and plantation. He said that the pollen of the Russian popular trees is hazardous and causes environmental pollution.
The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir asked the Deputy Commissioners to formulate strategies in their district so that the Russian popular trees are cut in a time bound manner.
The Deputy Commissioner Srinagar and other officers participated in the Video Conference.
