Srinagar: Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Saturday claimed that they are the credible peace keepers of Kashmir Valley.
Substantiating their claim, spokesperson CRPF said that despite facing major attacks from stone-pelters at two different places in Srinagar city, CRPF jawans exercised restraint and did not use force on the unruly stone-pelters.
A CRPF spokesperson Ashish Kumar Jha said that one Assistant Sub-Inspector Satedur Rehman of 44 Battalion sustained severe injury on his right cheek when all but 30 stone-pelters attacked CRPF party at Zainakote Srinagar. In another incident at Khwaja Bazaar and Nowhatta, troops of 28 Battalion CRPF endured heavy stone pelting. Restraint was exercised and use of munition was avoided despite suffering damage of L&O equipments and vehicles, the statement reads claiming that these two incidents once again proved that CRPF is the credible peace keepers of Kashmir Valley.
Pertinently, over 120 Kashmiri youth fell prey to the bullets of government forces in the streets of Kashmir in 2010 and most of those killings were allegedly done by CRPF personnel.
People frequently accuse this force of going berserk after every stone-pelting incident any area. Causing damage to vehicles, smashing window panes of residential houses and thrashing passersby are some of the allegations that people level against the disciplined CRPF troopers.
