SRINAGAR– After a disappointing 2-1 loss to Shillong Lajong FC in their Durand Cup opener, Downtown Heroes FC will look to mend their ways when they take on FC Goa on Wednesday, August 16, at SAI Stadium Kokrajhar in Assam.
The Heroes, led by veteran coach Hilal Rasool Parray, had a golden opportunity against a ten-man Shillong Lajong side on August 13. But the team failed to convert their chances and capitalise on a man advantage that lasted for well over 86 minutes of the game.
Downtown Heroes took the lead through an own goal, but two goals by Shillong Lajong meant the Heroes will have to fight their way through the next set of matches in the prestigious competition.
FC Goa, meanwhile, have played two matches in Group D, winning one and drawing the other.
The Goans will prove to be a tough challenge for Downtown Heroes, who will need to rise to the occasion and muster all their talent to get the three points.
Downtown Heroes FC is grouped alongside Shillong Lajong FC, FC Goa and Northeast United FC in Group D of the 132nd edition of Durand Cup.
