More Showers Likely in next 24 hours
SRINAGAR: Weather turned pleasant after rain and strong winds this afternoon in the capital city, where major parts elsewhere in the valley experienced light to moderate rain.
The mercury was almost normal after remaining below normal for the past about a week due to rain and cloudy weather conditions in the valley.
However, a met department spokesman said here this afternoon that there could be scattered rain or thundershowers in the state during the next 24 hours.
But, he said, the weather will remain mainly dry and there is chance of fairly wide spread rain during the subsequent two days.
For the first time after about a week, the mercury was near normal in the valley, including summer capital, Srinagar, where rain and winds were experienced last night.
However, the minimum temperature was above normal though the maximum temperature yesterday was normal in the valley.
People woke up to a pleasant morning though the minimum temperature witnessed two degree increase against yesterdays 13.
However, he said the mercury will drop again in the city during the next 24 hours when there is possibility of rain or thundershowers.
The maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 21 degree an 11 degree respectively, he added.
Pahalgam recorded 8 degree minimum temperature, which is being considered normal during this period of the season.
However in the ski resort of Gulmarg the minimum temperature remained half a notch below normal though it was up by half a degree against yesterday after 9.
At Leh the minimum temperature was eight degree against yesterday 7 while town of Kargil experienced 8 degrees.
He said the sky would be generally cloudy and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 24 degree and 10 degree at Leh during the next 24 hours.
