SRINAGAR: Aghast at the killing of pro-freedom activists, Hurriyat Conference Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Saturday claimed that Ikhwan period has formally returned in Kashmir and alleged that they (government backed gunmen) have started killing civilians as they used to do in 1990s.
Geelani also called for a shutdown in Baramulla district on Sunday against the killing of Khursheed Ahmad of Bomai Sopore.
The poor response of the Mufti led government towards the recent killings vindicates our claim that the fresh bloodshed process of the Kashmiris is a Top Secret of the New Delhi and their local agents here are having very little information about that. The killings in Sopore and its adjoining areas happened under the nose of police and the administration but the role of police is as if they have been ordered to remain neutral in this game, Geelani said in a press statement here today.
Geelani said the killings of civilians in the broad day light and in the busy market places are raising many questions of which the government has no answers. He cautioned the secret forces who are behind these mysterious killings that these types of cheep actions has neither succeeded in suppressing the just freedom struggle of the Kashmiri people in the past and nor can it break our resolve in the future.
Kashmiris have offered tremendous sacrifices till date but they didnt show any kind of weakness in their stand and their freedom sentiments has become stronger with each suffering. I want to tell the killers that firstly you are cowardly killing the innocent and unarmed people and secondly wait for the torment from the Almighty Allah and you will meet the same fate which the Ikhwanis met in 90s for killing the common and innocent people, he added.
Waving ISIS flags defames our struggle
SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani Saturday expressed displeasure over the hoisting of ISIS flags in the Valley, saying “such instances provide a handle to defame the ongoing struggle in Kashmir”.
“Waving of ISIS flags during peaceful demonstrations is against the discipline and also negates our strategy. Such things provide a handle to India to defame our legitimate freedom struggle,” Geelani said in a statement here.
He said “New Delhi is using it as a tool at the global level to convey a message that the struggle in Kashmir is not for right of self-determination but a problem of terrorism and the world community should lend its support to the people of Kashmir.”
“ISIS and other like-minded groups, whatever their agenda and strategy, have nothing to do with Kashmir. The people of Kashmir are fighting for their right of self-determination and not pursuing any international agenda,” Geelani said.
“Those youth who hoist flags of Daesh (ISIS) or other such group, should think with cool mind whom they are benefiting,” Geelani said.
