526 Schools Upgraded In 3 Yrs: Secy
Srinagar – In an attempt to streamline the teaching-learning process in government run schools, Jammu and Kashmir government has given its nod to fill up 4148 vacant posts of teaching and non-teaching staff in the states school education department.
The posts includes 3,132 teachers, 526 junior assistants and 526 labortarory attendants. The concerned agencies have been asked to make selections for the vacancies within one month, official sources told KNS, adding the government had approved promotion of 526 masters to the posts of headmasters.
Talking to KNS, the secretary Education, Farooq Ahmad Faktoo, said the steps would go a long way in improving the education system. These posts would be filled within one month under the scheme of Rashtriya Madyamik Shiksha Abivyaan (RMSA). Additionally, he said, 526 schools had been taken up for up-gradation over the past three years while 600 class IV vacancies had been filled up recently.
Dispelling the apprehensions of corruption or nepotism in selection of candidates, Faktoo said, There is no chance of bias or corruption. Everything will be done transparently as per the prescribed procedure and merit will be the basis for selection.
He said the education system was improving and his department was making every effort to prepare students for facing competition in and outside the state.
Faktoo said special training programs were being organized for in-service teachers to build their capacity according to modern trends in education. Post-graduation and B Ed is the criteria for candidates to get priority for selection. Weve to understand that education is the fist and foremost important for progress and development of the society he added.
He said there was no room for corrupt practices in the department and whosoever was found indulging in such activities shall be dealt strictly under law. Any employee of the department, high or low, will be dealt with strictly under law, if found corrupt, Faktoo said. (KNS)
