Budgam- Asserting that the record arrival of devotees from across India will increase livelihood opportunities and boost local economy, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Saturday urged people to chip in the administration for the successful Annual Amarnath Yatra, scheduled to begin next month.
Sinha said elaborate arrangements have been put in place to make the upcoming annual pilgrimage successful and that Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) and the UT administration have been working in sync and total coordination in this direction.
He said Pratham Pooja that marks the beginning of annual Amarnath pilgrimage began with Jesht Purnima today and that the Yatra will end on Raksha Bandhan on August 31.
“Economy will rise while livelihood opportunities for locals increase with the arrival of devotees from across the country. I appeal to the people of J&K to chip in with the administration to make the annual Yatra successful this year as well, the way they have been contributing over the years,” Sinha told reporters on the sidelines of a function.
Sinha said the administration is making all out efforts to ensure the upcoming annual Amarnath pilgrimage ends on a peaceful note and that all necessary arrangements have been put in place in this direction.
Replying to a query whether the work on the road leading to the Amarnath cave shrine was completed, the LG said the route will be through within the next few days.
“Since Border Roads Organization has done a great job and it’s true that heavy snowfall was witnessed this year, the route leading to the holy cave shrine will be through within the next few days,” added the LG.
