SRINAGAR- Under its “Sports for Seniors” initiative, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) organised different competitive sports and recreational activities for the elderly on Thursday at different sports zones of all the 20 districts of J&K. Hundreds of senior citizens from various zones participated in these events.
Following directions of Secretary to Government, YSS, and under the guidance of Director YSS, ‘Nature Walk 23,’ an out of box initiative of making youth visit different historically important and naturally beautiful places of the valley, first group of 25 students form different schools of Anantnag district took a walk of famous Dachigham National Park.
They were escorted by three senior field officials of the YSS department. The students were briefed about various important and rare aspects of the National Park.
Joint Director Kashmir, YSS Waseem Raja visited Ranger Chadoora, Budgam to inaugurate an Inter-School Tug of War competition of girls for all age groups. He in his speech appreciated the Sports zone for encouraging participation of girl students in the tourney. He further said that such initiatives would surely help the Department in maximizing the participation of girls in competitive sports. He was accompanied by DYSSO Srinagar and other officials of the Department.
