Major Shrines, Buildings To Lit In G20 Motif; Electric Poles To Have LED Lights

Srinagar– The J&K administration is sprucing up the summer capital with a G20 theme to welcome delegates from G20 nations ahead of the first major international event to be held under India’s G20 Presidency in Srinagar on May 22 and 23.
Besides, some revered Muslim shrines including Peer Dastgeer Sahab (RA) at Khanyar, major buildings in the Srinagar city are likely to be lit in the G20 motif, while 1000 electric poles will be illuminated with multi color LED lighting.
Officials at Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) told Kashmir Observer that Srinagar city will be spruced up right from the Airport Road to SKICC, the main venue of G20 travelers track meeting.
They said 15 major buildings including Hotel Lala Rukh at Lal Chowk, Budshah building, SPS Library, TRC buildings and Kashmir Arts Emporium will have façade LED lighting.
They also said that Chatti Padshahi revered by Sikh community will also be illuminated with LED lighting to mark the occasion.
Confirming the development, Commissioner SMC, who is also Chief Executive Officer of Srinagar Smart City Ltd, Athar Amir Khan said all arrangements in this direction have been finalized.
Khan said the work on Airport Road, M.A Road stands completed while similar arrangements will be put in place in some old city areas as well.
“Around 15 major buildings in Srinagar have been identified to be lit in the G20 theme, while around 1000 electric poles will be illuminated with LED lighting. These multi-color lights make evenings beautiful and at the same time offer pleasant feelings to people,” he added.
