Srinagar- Police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a fraudster involved in selling fake Gondola Tickets in the tourist resort of Gulmarg in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
In a statement issued here, a police spokesperson said that Police Station Gulmarg received a written complaint from Manager Gulmarg Gondola Project stating that 2 tourists with a fake gondola ticket were caught by the ticket checker. On enquiry, he said, the tourists stated that a tourist guide has sold them these tickets at a cost of Rs. 2500/- per ticket.
Accordingly, the spokesperson said, a case was registered under relevant sections of law in Police Station Gulmarg and investigation was initiated.
During the course of investigation and after strenuous efforts, he said, a tourist guide Aashiq Hussain Magray of Shrai Tangmarg involved in the commission of crime was arrested.
“During investigation, it was revealed by the fraudster that their modus operandi is to pre-book gondola tickets and then sell them to gullible tourists at exorbitant rates,” the spokesperson added.
