Srinagar- Dryland Agriculture Research Station, Budgam in collaboration with KVK Kulgam organised a one day Farmers awareness cum input distribution programme under Tribal Sub Plan of AICRP on Soybean at KVK Kulgam on Thursday.
More than Twenty-five Tribal Farmers of Kund – Kulgam Participated in the programme. Senior scientist and Head KVK Kulgam, Dr Manzoor Ahmad Ganai welcomed the farmers and dignitaries to the programme.
Director Extension SKUAST-K, Shalimar, Prof. Dil Mohammed Makhdoomi stressed upon the adoption of latest agricultural technology for socio economic transformation of the tribal community. He also advised the tribal farmers to form FPOs for better marketability and profitability of their agricultural produce.
Prof Sher Ahmad Dar, PI, AICRP on Soybean, DARS Budgam, highlighted the nutritive and economic value of the soybean under changing climate scenario and advised the participant farmers to cultivate it for climate change resilience and economic profitability.
Shabir Ahmad, AEO department of Agriculture District Kulgam made the tribal farmers aware about different schemes of the department. During the programmes Soybean seed and 25 tool kits consisting of knapsack sprayer, tarpaulin and gardening hoe were distributed among the farmers. The programme was inaugurated by Dr Ab Shakoor (SMS Soil Science) and concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Shahid Ahmad (SMS Animal Science) KVK Kulgam.
