Srinagar– The sleuths of anti-corruption bureau (ACB) on Monday arrested a government employee for demanding and accepting a bribe for release of bill for construction of the spring in Kulgam district of South Kashmir.
ACB received a complaint alleging that Ajaz Ahmad Mir, Gram Rozgar Sevak, Block Damhal Hanjipora was demanding a bribe of Rs 7,000 for processing / forwarding the demand of labour money with regards to a project namely Bhuhi Naag at Reshipora, a Bureau spokesperson said.
He said that since the contents of the complaint disclosed the demand of bribe by the public servant, subsequently the pre-trap verification was conducted which required prompt action.
Accordingly, he said, a case FIR No. 03/2023 was registered at P/S ACB Anantnag and investigation was started.
After registration of the case, a team was constituted that laid a trap and caught Ajaz Ahmad Mir red handed for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 7,000.
“He was immediately arrested on the spot after completing necessary legal formalities. Further investigation is going on,” the ACB spokesperson added.
