Srinagar: Taking strong note of around 300 doctors who are not present at their place of postings for the past so many years, Jammu and Kashmir government Friday asked them to join back to their respective postings within a weeks time failing which they would be dismissed from their services.
The government also said that absent doctors will not only be dismissed from services but will also be blacklisted, rendering them ineligible for any job within or outside the state.
Minister for Health and Medical Education Choudhary Lal Singh said that the government has decided to dismiss the services of absent doctors. See we are short of doctors in many areas. We have decided to terminate the services of government doctors who are absent from duties for many years, he said and added that the absent doctors will also be blacklisted and subsequently the posts will be re-advertised.
As per the rules, the Minister said the doctors are duty bound to serve in the state. I have found that around 300 government doctors have managed their duties out of the state in private hospitals. I will not allow this to happen and will not hesitate to dismiss them from services,
He said that the government has framed a new contractual policy for recruitment of doctors on contractual basis in Government Medical Colleges, District Hospitals, Sub-District Hospitals, Primary Health Centres, Community Health Centres and other health institutions.
He appealed to the people to avoid admission in private clinics and get treatments in Government hospitals and said the Government is committed to provide best possible healthcare facilities including medicines from the hospitals.
