ANANTNAG- In the first semi-final of LG’s Rolling Trophy, host District Anantnag defeated District Ganderbal by 5 wickets at Govt. Higher Secondary School Bhijbehra on Saturday to enter the competition’s final.
Anantnag won the toss and elected to field first. Ganderbal scored 152 for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Sayyar Sofi was the highest scorer with 63 runs from 44 balls. For Anantnag, Umar Farooq bowled a spell of 3 overs for 29 runs and 3 wickets, while Arif Ahmad took 2 wickets.
In response, Anantnag won the match by a comfortable margin of 5 wickets. Umar Farooq showed his all-round brilliance, scoring 35 runs from 31 balls, while Zahid Naseer top scored with 43 runs of just 19 deliveries. Ganderbal’s Shahid Khan claimed 3 wickets.
Earlier, the inauguration ceremony saw Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Chief Executive Officer Mission Youth J&K, along with Dr. Basharat Qayoom, Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, among the guests, which also included renowned J&K cricketer Parvaiz Rasool
Joint Director Youth Services & Sports Kashmir, Bashir Ahmad, SDM Bhijbehra and District Youth Services & Sports Officer, Anantnag, Mushtaq Pampori, DYSSO Srinagar, Balbir Singh and Sports Officer Ganderbal Shiekh Shafqat were also present on the occasion.
The other semi-final is being played at MAM Stadium in Jammu.
