Srinagar: The Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayed had an informal interaction with the business community of Kashmir over a lunch on 26th April 2015 at Nehru guest House. The basic motive of the Chief Minister for having this interaction was to seek support to realize his vision for a better Kashmir. At the very outset, The Kashmir Economic Alliance presumes that tie up of PDP with BJP for the formation of state Government could also be a visionary step of Mufti sahib, however, time only will speak about it.
The Kashmir economic alliance since the inception of the present coalition government has been very closely watching the events and the initiatives of the gov’t. These events and the initiatives clearly suggest that the people of Kashmir have become more apprehensive, as a result of which the prevailing atmosphere has been vitiated and charged which could lead to any ugly situation.
The KEA wants to point out that the release and subsequent re arrest of Masarat Alam , issuing orders for displaying the state flag and thereafter rescinding the order, were both done under the pressure of BJP led Government.
The issue of settlement of Kashmiri pundits in town ships was vehemently resented by the people of Kashmir due to which the chief minister is on record to have said that there would be no separate townships for pundits. The fact remains to be seen that whether Mufti Sahib can withstand the pressure of the Government at Delhi.
Killing of innocent youth at Tral and Narbal has also been a cause of concern to the people of Kashmir
The recent state budget also reflects the identification of three townships for Kashmiri pundits as also the in the power sector the handing over of potential power projects to NHPC, the recent recruitment policy announced by the Government., are the grave concerns for the socio economic interests of the state.
The Prime Minister during his Kashmir visit on Diwali in 2014 showed reluctance for the release of funds to the flood victims through the previous state Government. now the present coalition Government. of which BJP is a partner has so far miserably failed to provide a succor to the flood affected business community and the people of Kashmir.
The KEA asks the Government. to ponder and introspect their initiatives which have been responsible for creating an atmosphere of uncertainty causing a huge dent to the state economy including tourism sector. It appears that Mufti Mohd Syeed is in CM’s chair but unfortunately the government of the state is run by the people at Delhi.
