Srinagar: Expressing amusement at the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s statement that there were only a handful of political prisoners in jail and the media was creating an issue out of a non-issue, the NC Spokesman said Mufti Sayeed should explain then on what basis did PDP launch a false propaganda during elections claiming hundreds and hundreds of political prisoners were languishing in jails.
“Either Mehbooba Mufti and the entire top brass of PDP – all of them are liars or Mufti Sayeed is lying today when he says there are only less than a dozen political prisoners in jail, NC spokesperson Junaid Azim Mattu said .Since the day he has taken over he has not only re-arrested the only political prisoner who was released through a process initiated during Governor’s rule, but has also slapped a fresh PSA against him, sending him packing to Kot Bhalwal Jai thus throwing his ‘battle of ideas’ farce into the dustbin.
The party said that now Sayeed should apologize to the people of Kashmir for lying through his teeth during the election campaign. Or will his drama company enact a new drama to divert attention. This remains to be seen”, the party spokesman said.
The party said that for now the people of this state hope against hope that Mufti Sayeed and his crew of drama artists get their act together and at least try to pretend that they are interested in the welfare of this state and in dispensing their basic duties. This is clearly the most chaotic, incompetent and deceitful Government that J&K has ever seen”, Mattu added.
The party also rubbished remarks of Sayeed about the fiscal state of affairs in the state and said this was CMs brazen attempt to hide his own failures and that of his alliance Government with the BJP.
“To hide his shocking and premature failure to lead this state towards rehabilitation and reconstruction after the September Floods, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is resorting to lame excuses that are bereft of any truth and logic, NC said. By justifying the Central Government’s decision of withholding of funds to the State, PDP has yet again given a blanket excuse to the NDA Government to ignore the proposed Rs 44,000 crore Flood Relief Proposal submitted by the Omar Abdullah Government”.
The NC Spokesman said all pending liabilities are routine outstanding and accrued payments pertaining to developmental works, revenue and capital expenditure that is undertaken by a Government to run a state and these liabilities have only become a problem as they have been compounded by PDP by foisting an election on the state in the midst of a natural calamity and then by selling the interests of the state with the singular aim of making Sayeed the Chief Minister
“If Mufti Sahab cannot run this state, he should confess, resign and admit his failures. Hiding behind unfounded excuses doesn’t behoove a Chief Minister. Running the affairs of a state takes more than photo-ops, melodrama and rhetoric in press statements”, the NC spokesman said while ridiculing the Chief Minister’s assertions yesterday.
“On one hand the Finance Minister of the state says that he will sort out everything and ensure smooth flow of funds within 45 days and on the other hand the Chief Minister takes his drama company to a parking lot in the Press Enclave to play the victim, Mattu said. The people of the State were asked for votes on the plank of the relief and rehabilitation of flood victims, the development of the state and opposing BJP’s aim to come to power and through an ironic, Faustian bargain between PDP and BJP all they got in return was melodrama and deceit when PDP shamelessly embraced the same BJP”,
