SRINAGAR- Administration will act tough against the ‘trouble mongers’ for creating an alarming situation among people by circulating a ‘forged’ list figuring names of ‘encroachers’ on social media, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Ajaz Assad said Wednesday.
DC Srinagar said the ‘unsealed and unsigned’ list mentioning names of those having allegedly encroached upon the state land is aimed at creating panic among the people and that a formal case stands registered in this direction.
He said the Cyber Police Kashmir has also taken cognizance of the issue and keeps an ‘eye’ on those attempting to create a sense of fear among masses. DC Srinagar said those found involved in circulating the fake list of encroachers will be dealt with sternly.
Welcoming G20 tourism track meeting, scheduled to be hosted in Srinagar in May, he said holding G20 summit in Srinagar is a proud moment for Jammu and Kashmir especially Srinagar. He said the administration is gearing up for the event to be hosted in Srinagar.
Assad said the people of Kashmir are famous for their hospitality throughout the world and that they will be able to exhibit their ‘liberality’ to the visiting delegates.
“So far two episodes have come to our notice, an unsealed and unsigned list figuring names of encroachers has been making rounds on social media. These attempts by trouble mongers are aimed at creating a sense of fear among masses; police have filed an FIR in this direction and investigation is on. Cyber Police Kashmir has also taken cognizance of the issue and keeps an ‘eye’ on those creating confusions,” DC Srinagar told the media during his routine visit to Lal Chowk.
Flanked by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar, Rakesh Bhalwal, Assad while reiterating Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s commitment that poor will not be touched during the eviction drive, said the administration is implementing LG’s directions in ‘letter and spirit’. He said landless, labor class and poor masses will not be touched as per LG’s directions.
“Welfare state provides livelihood to masses and does not render them jobless, since LG is on record to say that poor or landless will not be touched during the ongoing eviction drive, his directions will be implemented in letter and spirit. Landless, poor and labor class will not be touched or harassed,” he added.
On works being executed in Srinagar under Smart City mission, he said the men and machinery have been pressed into service to complete the project in allotted time.
“Work is on at full pace, the project will be completed in allotted time and once weather improves, work will be done in night shifts as well,” he added.
