JAMMU: Health minister Lal Singh Saturday ordered police to arrest entire staff of a sub- district hospital which allegedly was out for a picnic while leaving patients in lurch.
People, after finding the entire staff of the Ram Nagar hospital absent from duty, telephoned Lal Singh and complained over the issue.
Reports informed that Singh asked the concerned Senior Superintendent of Police to inquire into the matter.
Police along with the local village-head found the hospital staff including four doctors and other paramedics enjoying at a nearby resort. It was later that the health minister ordered the immediate arrest of the entire hospital staff including the doctors and a case was registered against them.
When contacted, Lal Singh said it was unfortunate to find the staff of such essential service absent from duty.
He added that action will be taken against those who are found violating the law.
