No comment on Alam arrest
Anantnag: National Conference patron Dr Farooq Abdullah Friday refused to comment on the detention of Masarat Aalam under public safety act.
Abdullah was talking to reporters after visiting South Kashmirs Anantnag district to express solidarity with NC leader Bashir Ahmed Veeri whose father Abdul Gani Veeri passed away on Tuesday.
Abdullah travelled by train from Srinagar to Anantnag. He told reporters dilapidated roads forced him to travel by train. It is a shame that the present government has not been doing anything to restore the glory of this highway, Abdullah said. The highway presents an ugly look and the travellers face a lot of problem due to bad condition of the roads everywhere.
Abdullah did not reply when he was informed that during NC-Congress rule, the condition of Srinagar-Anantnag highway was not different from the present day.
When asked how he views the arrest of Masarat Alam and what will be its implications, Abdullah put his finger on the lips and said, no comment.
Earlier speaking at the Majlis Chaharum, Abdullah said those who had sold their souls for the petty trappings of power today were the same people who led one intrigue after another against the special status and identity of J&K in the past.
National Conference is a party with a glorious history – one of honor, one of sacrifices and one of a selfless pursuit to empower the people of this great State. Even our adversaries have to admit that National Conference has been the pioneer of empowerment in the State, Abdullah said.
