JAMMU: Deputy chief minister Dr Nirmal Singh Friday said there is no question of snatching AIIMS from Kashmir and giving it to Jammu. He accused opposition National Conference and Congress of creating a regional divide between the two regions of the state.
NC and Congress both are trying to create regional divide in the state in a bid to serve their political interests. We will not allow that to happen. We take Jammu and Kashmir as one entity and the AIIMS is being given to the state and not to any region, Singh told KNS over phone from Jammu.
Training guns against Congress, Singh said, The party surrendered AIIIMS for Jammu in the year 2004 when Sushma Swaraj announced one for it. It is a mere cry of a thief which the Congress and NC are making at present. Ghulam Nabi Azad has to answer what he did when NDA announced AIIMS for Jammu back in 2004.
Pitching for the better healthcare for all the three regions of the state, the deputy chief minister maintained that the government would leave no stone unturned in ensuring quality healthcare for Jammu. We can strive and pitch for AIIMS in Jammu as well. It is a god thing if both Jammu as well as Kashmir gets the vital institute like AIIMS. If we can have two central universities, there is a possibility of getting two AIIMS as well, Singh told KNS, adding that government functions to keep the state united and not to allow anyone to create any wedge for the petty political gains.
Castigating the NC over its protest calls against AIIMS for Kashmir, he said, NC has to come clear and pass resolution where AIIMS should be constructed. Instead of raising farce slogans, NC should pass a resolution wherein the party could declare where it wants AIIMS in the state.
