SRINAGAR- Riding on brilliant batting displays from top order batters, J&K’s Ranji Trophy team on Thursday declared after amassing a total of 446/6 in 156 overs against Tripura at Hostel Ground JKCA in Jammu.
Leg spinner Abid Mushtaq then took 3 wickets in a space of 6 overs to leave Tripura reeling at 76/4 after 37 overs, before the umpires called it a day.
The Day 3 of the four-day test saw J&K resume from their overnight total of 241/3, which saw batter Abhinav Puri 121 (316) claim a maiden century. The game’s first two days were lost to bad weather and wet outfield.
Skipper Shubham Khajuria 53 (129), Vivrant Sharma 55 (122), Ian Chauhan 61 (164), Abdul Samad 58 (90), Musaif Ajaz 43* (70) and Abid Mushtaq 31 (30) all contributed with the bat to give J&K a chance to earn some points from the match.
However, all will depend on J&K’s final day performance as the team will hope to enforce follow-on on the visiting side and then bowl them out again. So the question every fan will be asking is: Can J&K take 16 wickets on Day 4?
J&K Playing XI: Shubham Khajuria (c), Fazil Rashid (wk) Vivrant Sharma, Abhinav Puri, Abdul Samad, Abid Mushtaq, Musaif Ajaz, Rohit Sharma, Auqib Nabi, Ian Chauhan, Umar Nazir.
