Srinagar – Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law Justice and Parliament Affairs Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar has underscored the need for revisiting outdated laws so that there is improvement in running various institutions of justice and other social activities.
The Minister was speaking during the consultative committee meeting for various departments under his charge.
Minister of State for Rural Development, Law Mr. Aijaz Ahmad Khan, Legislators Mr. Nizam-ud-Din Bhat, Mr. Subash Chander Gupta, Aga Syed Ahmad, Mr. Balwant Singh Mankotia, Commissioner/Secretary Rural Development Mr. Farooq Ahmad Peer, Commissioner/Secretary Mr. B. A. Runiyal, Commissioner/Secretary Law Mr. G. H. Tantray, Director Rural Development Kashmir Mir Altaf Ahmad, Director Rural Sanitation Mr. Tuffail Matoo, and other senior officers of Law, Rural Development and Technical experts of IWMP were present on the occasion.
It was decided in the meeting that there is dire need of revisiting existing laws for the purpose of ensuring that these are found to be in the interest of public and covering all the affairs dealing with day-to-day needs of general public.
It was also given out that the State Litigation Policy already framed during the present government shall further be updated for ensuring expeditious disposal of cases and also ensuring minimal litigation between different parties or government. The up-gradation and creation of new courts was also discussed.
The meeting was told that the socio-economic census has already been completed and the draft publication will be made public after the approval from the Central government. The implementation aspects of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes like MGNREGA, IAY, TSC were also discussed threadbare in the meeting.
The meeting was also informed that Rs 253 crore has been kept as a budget supplement to the Panchayats of the state in addition to an amount of Rs 166 crore which has been released directly to the Panchayats for creation of infrastructural assets including Panchayat Ghars. It was also recommended that adequate reward would be given to those Sarpanchs, who will ensure the timely completion of these assets.
