Udhampur – Miss Malti bagged first position in Intra College Poster Making Contest on the topic Ill Effects of Tobacco and Drug Abuse organized by the Science Club of Govt College for Women Udhampur in active coordination with Department of Science and Technology, Udhampur in the college premises here today.
Miss Jarry Raina, Miss Prern were adjudged second and third prize winners respectively. Consolation prizes were given to Miss Simranjeet Kour , Sonal Sharma and Miss Sonam Rajput.
On the occasion 71 entries were registered and the participants in their scintillating and thought provoking poster presentations gave vent to their ideas on the said topic Principal Govt. PG College, Udhampur Dr. N.K. Resutra was the chief guest on the occasion. While speaking on the occasion, Mr. Resutra praised the thought provoking posters made by the students and said that the students would serve as ambassadors and spread awareness about ill effects of tobacco.
Principal of Host College, Dr. Youdhvir Singh, appreciated the enthusiasm the students showed in making emphatic graphic presentations on the menace of tobacco and its ill effects on the health of people. He also hoped that students would spread the message among the masses.
Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Udhampur, Dr. Chander Prakash gave power point presentation on National Programme for prevention and control of cancer, Diabetes, CVDs and Stroke (NPCDCS).
HOD Chemistry and Convener Science Club, Govt. College for Women, Udhampur, Dr. Arun Kumar Sharma presented vote of thanks.
Among others, Chief Executive Officer, Patnitop Development Authority, Patnitop, Dr. Raman Kesar, District Information Officer, Udhampur, Dr. Jagdish Mehra, District Coordinator, DST, Udhampur, Dr. Sanjay Kharoo and staff members and students of college were present on the occasion.
