Baramulla: At least 38 houses were damaged in a landslide in Baramulla district on Thursday, prompting authorities to order relocation of the affected families to safer places.
The houses were damaged in the landslide at village Frasthar but there was no report of any casualty, an official spokesman said today.
Baramulla Deputy Commissioner Peerzada Mushtaq Ahmad Shah visited the affected village and met the displaced families and after assessing the damage directed Revenue officials for immediate evacuation and relocation of the affected families to safer places, the spokesman said.
The officials were also directed to establish relief camps for the affected families and Tehsildar Baramulla informed that tents and blankets have already been provided to them, the spokesman added.
In apprehension of more landslides, the deputy commissioner directed the people of the village to restrict their movement as a precautionary measure.
