Charar-i-Sharief: HDFC Bank announced the launch of its 71st branch in Jammu & Kashmir at Charar-i-Sharief in the Budgam District of the state.
The new branch, located 40 kilometers from Srinagar, will offer the full range of world-class banking solutions to meet the needs of the local population of around 7,500. This is the Banks fourth branch in the Budgam district and 41st branch in the Kashmir division.
The branch was inaugurated by Mr. Mir Altaf, District Development Commissioner Budgam in presence of Mr. Zubair Iqbal, Circle Head, HDFC Bank, and other senior officials of the Bank and prominent local dignitaries.
With a heritage of over 600 years, Charar-i-sharief was built to pay homage to one of the holy saints of Sufism – Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani. The new branch will cater to the needs of the picturesque district which is also well renowned for its apple, pear and almond orchards. The branch is located at HDFC Bank Ltd. Main Chowk, Gulshanabad, Ward No. 7, Char-i- Sharief, Budgam, J and K-PIN 191112 and is headed by Mr. Sheikh Gowhar.
HDFC Bank has rapidly expanded its branch network in J&K in the past five years. It has also leveraged technology to provide banking services through multiple digital channels such as netbanking and mobile banking. HDFC Bank is today reaching out to an increasing number of people across the state through its branch network complemented by initiatives under its Go Digital campaign.
The Go Digital campaign began on the banks of the Varanasi last year, with the launch of its Bank Aap Ki Muththi Mein offering, which literally converts the mobile phone into a bank branch. Since then the bank has launched a host of innovative digital initiatives including Chillr, an instant money transfer mobile app.
