TRANSPORT is currently the most polluting sector in the world, so the UK’s Bristol City Council has launched a new app called ‘My Journey’ that seeks to reduce these emissions. The new commuter-sharing platform is a free online service that brings together commuters from the same workplace to share driving, biking, and walking routes. This innovative platform solves several problems such as reducing transportation costs, congestion and pollution.
The UK government is encouraging businesses and organisations to sign up for commuter-sharing platforms and create business centers so that their employees can enjoy the benefits of ridesharing. With petrol prices rising throughout the year, the app is believed to help ease congestion during rush hour and help residents save money. Bristol City Council says it has reduced its carbon footprint by 87% through its shared commute platform.Already achieved more in reducing pollution between 2005 and 2021 as the city has set a goal to become CO2 zero by 2030.
The ‘My Journey’ platform is very helpful for commuters and easy to adjust for sustainable travel packages. With more than 25,000 employees, this is a great opportunity to help reduce air pollution and save money by sharing elevators in Bristol says industrialists.
The online platform handles the logistics of connecting people comprehensively and is very easy to set up. All it is needed to do, according to the Bristol company, is to create a hub and let employees know about it. Bristol businesses are heavily pushing the platform to encourage their employees to work more sustainably through this app. Therefore our country especially in metropolitan cities also needs this kind of app to reduce air pollution and governments should encourage this kind of methods.
