Srinagar: Kashmir centre for Social and Development Studies expresses great concern over the deteriorating situation in the state and empathizes with the people who are in great distress.
According to a statement KCSDS in an emergency meeting that was chaired by Hameedah Nayeem, the members called upon the people to rely on their own resources and do not wait for any help from the govt. It reminded people of the state that 7 months have passed since the September flash floods but so far nothing has been done to repair or rebuild t he dilapidated infrastructure which has added to the miseries of people at this juncture and increased the risk of being submerged once again. The state govts proposal of 44000 crore assistance for rebuilding the basic destroyed essential services structures is still pending with Delhi govt and no forward movement has been made on granting this much needed and much awaited assistance. Therefore as we have earlier seen how people relied on their resources and courage to pull themselves out of the disastrous situation,
This time around , we need the same courage and resilience to withstand the impending testing time.We earnestly appeal people to calmly face the situation and help themselves and each other as the govt has no resources to help them. There is no preparedness in govt to face upto the challenge. Whatever little resources state disaster management had, that too has been consumed last time and no addition has been made in that till the present moment.
