Ganderbal-Body of a missing Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Jammu and Kashmir Police was fished out from River Sindh in central Kashmirs Ganderbal district here.
A police official said that the body of ASI Muhammad Shafi Parray, resident of Wasun in the district, who had gone missing on March 26 last week, was fished out by the joint rescue teams of SDRF and police at Wusan in Kangan.
Eyewitness said that SPO Reyaz Ahmad (belt no. 452/Gbl) under the supervision of SI Imtiyaz from Gutlibagh police post jumped into the river and recovered the body of the deceased.
As reported earlier, the police officer was posted at Budgam district and was absent from last one year. He, according to sources, was suspended by the department.
Official sources informed that injury marks were found on the police officers head and police are investigating the matter.
Earlier, the relatives of the deceased had staged massive protests after the officer went missing. (GNS)
