ANANTNAG: District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Khan today flagged off two Buses carrying 80 progressive sericulture farmers under ATMA Programme for one day training tour to Srinagar at a function organized by Sericulture Department Anantnag. The farmers belong to three Sericulture Zones Kuthar, Dachnipora and Sarnal of the district.
On the occasion the DDC emphasized upon the farmers to avail all benefits from the departmental experts in building their socio economic prosperity. He asked to the department to organize more such kind of tours inside and outside the state so that farmers related with sericulture sector can be awared by the ongoing central /state sponsored schemes under ATMA and other programmes for the welfare of the farmers.
The DDC also planted a Mulberry Tree on the occasion and asked the farmers to bring the uncovered area under Mulberry plants.
The Dy. Director Sericulture Anantnag said on the occasion that against a plantation target of 71000 Mulberry plants for the year 2014-15, plantation of 40000 Mulberry plants in three clusters have been completed and 14000 Mulberry plants are being planted on Government land for providing leafs to the landless sericulture beneficiaries.
