Srinagar- The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday arrested an Engineer of the Rural Development Department (RDD) for demanding and accepting a bribe.
Ghulam Hassan Rather, a resident of Gojura in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 15000, reports said. Two cheques were also seized from Rather, who is posted as AEE in R&B Division Uri.
The officer was taken to police station Sadar as part of further investigations.
According to a local news agency KDC, the arrest of Rather was made after an FIR was registered under section 7 Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 in Police Station ACB on the basis of a complaint.
