Srinagar- The sleuths of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested a Panchayat member from South Kashmir’s Awantipora for demanding and accepting a bribe from a contractor for passing and signing of labour muster roll of labourers.
Gulam Mohammad Dar, Sarpanch Halqa Panzgam was arrested by the ACB on the basis of a complaint received from a contractor alleging that the Panchayat member was demanding bribe of Rs 5, 000 for passing and signing of labour muster roll of labourerss engaged under “MGNREGA” scheme by him, a Bureau spokesperson said Tuesday.
He said that an FIR 17/2022 was registered by Police Station ACB South Kashmir since the contents of the complaint disclosed demand of bribe by accused public servant
After registration of case, the ACB spokesperson said that a trap team was constituted that caught the Sarpanch for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 5,000
“He was arrested on spot after completing necessary legal formalities. Further investigation is going on,” he added.
