SRINAGAR: Senior Hurriyat Conference leader and patron of Jammu and Kashmir Ittihadul Muslimeen Maulana Mohammad Abbas Ansari has cautioned that the State government and the judiciary against interfering in religious and jurisprudential matters of Muslims.
In a statement issued here today Maulana Abbas said that the decisions of Sharia Courts were the final verdict and the right of any change or cancellation of this lies with the higher court of Islamic law and not with any person ignorant of the Islamic laws, government official or judicial employee.
Top Shia cleric of the state said that no individual or organisation has the right to modify or amend the Sharia laws but state judiciary and its implementing agencies and officials interfere in the religious matters of Muslims which is not acceptable in any case.
He said that if this situation continues, it will be considered undue interference in the religious matters of Muslims and we have right to protest against it and State Govt & judiciary will be held responsible.
Molvi Abbas Ansari reminded the judges of the courts in the state and law enforcement agencies that Muslim personal law is implemented in Jammu and Kashmir from 2007 and it was enforced under Sri Pratap Consolidation Act of 1920. He said that state Muslims are facing serious difficulties in courts because a non Muslim judicial officer and judge is not fully aware of what the Sharia law for a particular problem is and in this way the time of Muslim clients is being wasted in vain discussions.
