Srinagar: To inspect sanitation and attendance of sanitary workers Commissioner SMC Tuesday visited various areas of Shehri Khaas early in the morning.
In a statement SMC PRO Masrat Yosuf said, He (Commissioner) was accompanied by Chief Sanitation Officer and the concerned staff. While visiting Dastageer Sahib (RA) shrine, Khankaahe-e-Moula, Naqshband Saahib and other places, the Commissioner passed on directions to improve upon the overall sanitation of the city and said that sanitation shall begin in the early hours of the morning in all the wards so that the entire process gets completed at an earliest.
The SMC has strength of 2700 sanitary workers in 34 administrative wards. To monitor the actual presence of these sanitary workers on ground Commissioner has called on the daily diaries along with the list of these saffai wallas separately at each ward level, she said.
The SMC shall be taking the initiative of updating the data record of the sanitary workers including sanitary supervisors and building inspectors of each ward on its official website. The data shall have the complete information of each sanitary worker including name, contact and areas of posting. This initiative shall be taken up for the convenience of public in obtaining sanitation services, Masrat added.
