Srinagar- Police on Monday filed chargesheet against five Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants, three among them dead, in connection with the abduction and murder of a soldier in Khag area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
The police submitted chargesheet against LeT commander Mohammad Yousuf Dar alias Kantroo, his associates Faisal Hafeez Dar and Hilal Ahmad Sheikh alias Hanzullah, who were killed in an encounter with government forces in Malwal area of Kunzar, a police spokesperson said Monday. Charges were also filed against LeT over-ground worker (OGW) Athar Illahi Sheikh, presently lodged in Kot Bilawal Jail and foreign militant Ghazi Bhai alias Pathan Bhai, who is still at large.
Giving details of the case, the spokesperson said that on March 10 this year, body of army man Mohammad Sameer Malla was recovered from Labran village of Khag, three days after he went missing.
During investigation of the case, he said, OGW Ather Illahi Sheikh was apprehended who admitted that he along with other 4 accused militants of LeT abducted the soldier, tortured him to death in an orchard before burying his body in a ditch in Labran village.
“The investigation thus conducted established the offences under section 364, 302,392, 201,149 IPC,16,18,19,20,38,39 ULA(P) Act against the above 05 accused and therefore the chargesheet was accordingly produced before Competent Court of law after obtaining the sanction from the competent authority,” the spokesperson added.
