Srinagar: Valley based 15-Corps Monday organised a one day workshop for a group of journalists at Badamibagh Cantonment.
The workshop Changing matrix of military-media relations, issue for future leaders and role of new media was attended by several leading journalists of the Valley and senior army officers.
Nitin Gokhale, former Security and Strategic Affairs Editor of NDTV and media trainer delivered a lecture on the issue which was followed by an interactive session.
Later in an informal chat with journalists, GOC 15-Corps Lt General Subrata Saha said Army was making a loss assessment at LoC caused due to recent heavy snowfall. There is two to 20 feet snow accumulated on LoC and it will take us two weeks to make the final loss assessment, he said.
Gen Saha said that high vigil was being maintained along the LoC to thwart any attempts by militants to infiltrate.
The fencing along the LoC was erected in 2004 as part of the counter-infiltration measures. Sources said that most of damage has taken place in the areas of under the control of Kupwara based 28 Infantry Division, especially along the Shamsabari mountain range. Fencing has also got damaged in Gurez and Machil sectors along LoC.
