Srinagar- The Enforcement Wing of Lake Conservation & Management Authority (LCMA) on Thursday launched a demolition drive in the areas of Baba Demb, Chandpora Harwan, Friends Colony Shalimar and Ishber.
“During the drive, one wooden Shed, two single stories with compound walling, one Plinth block, shuttering, compound walling (Block Bricks) and one second storey raised illegally were demolished on the spot” LCMA in a statement said.
Moreover, a demolition drive was also conducted in the interior areas of Dal lake viz. Kand Mohalla, Sofi Mohalla and Tinda Mohalla.
During the demolition process, the areas being sensitive in law and order, some miscreants assembled at several places and hurled stones and bricks on the demolition team thereby trying to disrupt the process of demolition. But the demolition team remained on forefront and managed to demolish one wooden shed, one plinth and one house boat platform near Ghat No.2. In this regard, legal action was also initiated against the miscreants.
LCMA urged the public residing within the LDA jurisdiction and in-lake directed not to go for any sort of illegal constructions as the Enforcement wing will continue with demolition of illegal constructions/ removal of encroachments.
LCMA also directed the Tipper and Load carrier owners not to ferry any construction material in the prohibited areas of Dal, Nigeen Lakes without getting proper permission and in case anybody found shall be dealt with as per law.
Also CCTV Cameras have been installed and barricades have been erected in order to curb the transportation of illegal building material.
Moreover, the locals residing in the area of LCMA Jurisdiction are informed to apply for online building permission through LCMA online official website.
