SRINAGAR: Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has initiated the process of capturing of biometrics data of heads of the households in Srinagar city in the first phase.
An SMC spokesperson Masrat Yosuf said, For biometric process, six permanent Adhaar centers have been established in East, North West and South zones of the city. The permanent centres for ward 1 to 9 falling in East zone has been set up at ward office SK Park where the machines have been put to operation for capturing biometrics and Municipal building Tibetan quarters Eidgah.
Also the permanent centre has been established at facilitation centre Elahibagh for the residents falling between ward 10 to 17, where 50 persons have been registered in the first instance. Similarly the community hall Chotta Bazaar has been set up for biometrics in west zone covering wards 18 to 26, she said.
The permanent centres for wards 27 to 34 have been set up at community hall, Rawatpora Barzullah and Municipal Shopping Chinar Complex at Batamaloo. At least 500 households from various areas of these wards were registered for biometric process and 60 people at Batamaloo Chinar Complex. The capturing of biometrics for the whole family as per NPR data collected in the year 2010, shall take place simultaneously at ward level for which they shall be informed separately, she added.
