Srinagar: A low intensity earthquake measuring 3.8 on Richter scale was felt in parts of Kashmir valley on Thursday. An official of the local Meteorological department said the tremor with latitude 36.8 degrees north and latitude 73.5 degrees east with epicenter between Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan region, was felt at 7:15 a.m. today. However, no reports of loss to property or life were received.
On October 8, 2005, a high intensity earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale hit the Valley and Pakistan Administered Kashmir leading to death over a hundred people and causing widespread damage to property.
