Srinagar- All roads leading to Khanqah-e-Sokhta, the ancestral residence of late Kashmiri leader Maulana Muhammad Abbas Ansari, in Downtown Srinagar remained clogged with people arriving from all across to pay their respects on the 4th day of his demise on Friday.
Earlier in the morning thousands offered congregational Fateha at his gravesite at Baba Mazar, Zadibal and later made their way to his Khanqah-e-Sokhta residence where Fateha service continued till late evening.
Speaker after speaker paid glowing tributes to the late Maulana recalling his contributions in the diverse fields of politics, education and other social services.
“His politics was based on the ideals of truth and honesty as propounded by the Prophet of Islam (Pbuh), a rare trait in todays materialistic world”, said Agha Syed Mehdi Musawi Ali Zadeh, representative of Imam Sayed Ali Khamenei. Aga Mehdi had arrived here to tie a ceremonial turban on the late Maulana’s heir Masroor Abbas Ansari. Emotional scenes were witnessed on the occasion.
Many speakers recalled Maulana’s relentless struggle to forge unity between Muslim sects of Kashmir.
Representatives of various Social, Educational and Religious organizations besides former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti visited the Ansari house to extend their condolences.
Many Pandit leaders also joined the service and paid tributes to the late leader for his close bond with the community.
Hundreds of students from Madina Public Schools, a chain of schools which Maulana Abbas Ansari has established in far flung areas of Kashmir, also visited Maulana’s gravesite to pay their final respects.
