Srinagar- The authorities in South Kashmir’s Shopian on Wednesday rejected news report about the migration of 10 Kashmiri families from the district following a spate of civilian killings, including a community member Puran Krishan Bhat on October 18.
Rejecting the PTI news report that claimed 10 Kashmiri Pandit families have left from Chodrigund village of Shopian due to fear psychosis, an official spokesperson said that the report is baseless and fake.
“The District Administration Shopian made it clear that proper and robust security arrangements have been put in place in the village even at other pockets of Kashmiri Non migrant Hindu habitations and villages,” he said.
The spokesperson further clarified that due to the onset of winter and after the harvesting period is over, many families migrate to Jammu
“And that there are no instances of migration due to fear in the district,” he added.
On Tuesday, PTI published a news story quoting unnamed residents as saying that ten families comprising 35 to 40 Kashmiri Pandits have migrated out of Chodrigund village due to the “fear psychosis”.
