Srinagar: A woman on Thursday allegedly committed suicide by setting herself ablaze in Baramulla district of north Kashmir. The 28-year-old woman (name withheld) wife of Jeja Najar set herself ablaze at her in-laws house in Janbazpora locality of Baramulla this morning, officials said. She was rushed to the nearby district hospital, Baramulla by her in-laws for treatment. However, the doctors there referred her to Srinagar for serious burns. She died on way to the hospital, the officials said. However, the family of the slain woman staged protests near the police station Baramulla alleging that she was burnt to death by her in-laws. The protesters demanded a thorough investigation into what they termed as a murder. Meanwhile, police has started investigations into this regard. (GNS)
