JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly on Wednesday unanimously condemned BJP leader Subramanian Swamy’s remarks that mosques are not religious places and can be demolished.
As the day’s proceedings started, Congress legislator G.M. Saroori demanded unanimous condemnation of the statement.
The house then unanimously condemned the remark, asserting that irresponsible statements concerning religious faith should not be made by anybody.
After Governors address, MLA Langate Er Rashid, demanded that West Pakistan Refugees should be sent back to Pakistan instead of settling them in the state.
He was interrupted by MLA Ravinder Raina and said the refugees should be settled in J&K as it is part on India. But Rasheed shouted back J&K is a disputed territory.
Engineer Rashid also raised the issue of parliament attack convict Afzal Guru’s mortal remains.
He said that if Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), a Sikh body, can erect a memorial in the name of Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale and call General Vaidya “a murderer” because he commanded Operation Blue Star against the Sikh separatist leader, why can’t Kashmiris get the remains of parliament attack convict back for a proper burial.
Rashid reacting to Governors address said, Jammu & Kashmir is a burning political dispute governed by UN Resolutions, Bilateral Agreements like Shimla and Tashkent which needs attention.
He said, on account of tremendous sufferings of masses of Jammu& Kashmir this dispute needs resolution according to the aspirations of masses. Kashmir needs political package not economic packages to come out of miseries as Kashmir resolution is more important than financial packages.
Rashid further stated, Governor NN Vohras address did not have any concrete substance or meaningful content that could heal the sufferings of masses of Kashmir. PDP had buried its self-rule claim by entering into an alliance with BJP.
Rashid said BJP had made hue and cry and adopted hypocrisy over Masrat Alams release while accepting to take along stake holders in peace process.
While reflecting on the issue of mortal remains of Afzal Guru, Rashid stated It is inhuman, brutal that in Mahatma Gandhis non-violent India, even the dead body has not been returned to the family.
